The Amsterdam artist Afke Golsteijn makes sculptures of self stuffed animals combined with materials like glass, wrought iron, and textiles. With her sculptures, she creates a world in which the transience is shut down and in which the animals live on as Fables. The duality of emotions that her images at the same time recalls, make a fragile dividing line between reality and fantasy.  Afke Golsteijn is trained at the Amsterdam Rietveld Academy where she studied textile design and goldsmiths. Many of her projects have common ground with fashion, theatre and sculpture. Since January 2006 Afke Golsteijn works  along with Floris Bakker under the name Idiots.
