‘Ons museum wil geen oase zijn. Onze presentatie is onaf, in beweging, ongepolijst, contradictorisch, slordig, complex, onharmonieus, levend en onmonumentaal, zoals de wereld buiten de museummuren.’
De Verbeke Foundation toont kunstwerken uit eigen collectie en organiseert tijdelijke tentoonstellingen van hedendaagse kunst. Elk jaar vinden twee grote groepstentoonstellingen plaats: één opent in de zomer, de andere in de winter.
Collages en assemblages worden in een aparte ruimte geëxposeerd.
Gedurende het hele jaar werken we aan kleine en grote projecten, waardoor de tentoonstellingen altijd in beweging zijn en er bij elk bezoek iets nieuws te zien is.
Wij werken terwijl u kijkt, dus het kan ook regelmatig gebeuren dat u daardoor een blik achter de schermen krijgt.
Bovendien verblijven er regelmatig kunstenaars in residentie waardoor u als bezoeker getuige kunt zijn van werk in wording.
Begin 2015 zijn we begonnen met de uitgave van een reeks kunstenaarsmonografieën van zowel gevestigde kunstenaars als van nieuw talent. Jaarlijks wordt deze reeks verder uitgebreid.

You will find no flamboyant sensational buildings here but rather a refreshing, unpretentious place to look at art and a subtle criticism of the art world.”
The Verbeke Foundation displays artworks from its collection and organizes temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Two major group shows take place every year: one opens in the summer, the other in the wintertime. Nevertheless, new artworks may be seen all the time since the foundation is subject to an ongoing growth and transformation process. While large and small exhibitions are held at the foundation continuously, collages and assemblages from the collection are permanently displayed in a separate museum building.
The Verbeke Foundation is a place where visitors get a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes, watch mounting and taking down the exhibitions as the museum team carries out their duties during the opening hours. Moreover, artists in residence stay and work at the foundation on a regular basis. Therefore, visitors may also witness how artists discuss and develop various projects.
Recently, the Verbeke Foundation has launched a series of artists monographs. Every year the foundation publishes several books which cover both established and emerging artists.
