Kris Martin is een Belgische conceptuele kunstenaar die woont en werkt in Gent.
Kris Martin’s praktijk is nog altijd ligt binnen de tradities van de conceptuele kunst, poëtische en diep contemplatief. Met zijn monumentale en kleinschalige sculpturen, tekeningen, foto’s, performances en interventies vestigt hij de aandacht op het begrip van de tijd, vaak door te proberen te markeren, stoppen of overstijgen de onvermijdelijke doorgeven.
Martin’s werk bestaat vaak uit handelingen van toe-eigening en het gebruik van gevonden objecten die zijn getransformeerd door een subtiele herpositionering of interventie.
Situationeel ervaringen, evenementen en optredens worden zo veel gewicht in de Martin’s praktijk als visuele of sculpturale objecten geboden.

Kris Martin is a Belgian conceptual artist who lives and works in Ghent.
Kris Martin’s practice is poetic, deeply contemplative and yet always situated within the traditions of conceptual art. With his monumental and small-scale sculptures, drawings, photographs, performances and interventions, he draws attention to the notion of time, often by attempting to mark, halt or transcend its inevitable passing.
Martin’s work often consists of acts of appropriation and the use of found objects that have been transformed through a subtle repositioning or intervention.
Situational experiences, events and performances are afforded as much weight in Martin’s practice as visual or sculptural objects.
