4000 afgedrukte pagina’s papier vormen het beeld van een segment van een boomstam, opgestapeld en doorgesneden in twee stapels. Op de zijkanten van de stapels ontstaat de rest van de stam als gevolg van de verzadiging van het papier.
Het werk van Reinier Lagendijk bestaat uit het maken van beelden, installaties en monumentaal werk waarin de natuur een prominente rol speelt. De natuur is zijn materiaal, met alle mogelijkheden en beperkingen die het in zich heeft, zoekt hij de grenzen, vaak intuïtief en proefondervindelijk. In zijn sculpturen en installaties speelt hij met de (ver)vormbaarheid van de natuur. Hij beïnvloedt groeiprocessen en laat zijn werken uitmonden in vooraf bepaalde vormen. Zijn vormtaal bestaat uit archetypische beelden die vanaf onze kindertijd in ons hoofd worden geplant, gecombineerd met humor en poezie laat hij de natuur in dialoog treden met niet-natuurlijke gegevens, zoals staal en plastic. Al zijn werk refereert naar de cultivatie van onze natuur en ons landschap. Deze cultivering van de natuur, de vraagstelling hoe Natuur en Cultuur zich tot elkaar verhouden, is zijn uitgangspunt en inspiratie bron.

4000 printed pages of paper depicting a slice of a tree trunk, piled up and severed into two stacks. On the sides of the stacks teh rest of the trunk emerges due to the saturation of the paper.
The work of Reinier Lagendijk consists of making images, installations and monumental work in which nature plays a prominent role. Nature is his material, with all the possibilities and limitations in it, he seeks the limits, often intuitive and experimental. In his sculptures and installations he plays with the malleability of nature. He affects growth processes and lets his works lead to predetermined forms. His visual language consists of archetypal images that are with us from our childhood, combined with humor and poetry he lets nature start a dialogue with non-natural data, such as steel and plastic. All his work refers to the cultivation of our nature and our landscape. This cultivation of nature, the question how nature and culture relate to each other, its starting point and inspiration.
